Hilina is a pan-African feminist researcher and gender policy specialist. An expert in women’s rights, public policy, and advocacy, she has spearheaded gender and inclusion programmes within diverse international organizations and think tanks. As a 2024 XCEPT Women researchers fellow, Hilina recently completed research on women’s participation in non-state ethnic and ethno-national armed groups in Ethiopia, including cross-border implications with Kenya and Ethiopia’s internal borders.
