This policy brief presents key findings and policy implications from research conducted between August and December 2024 on the gendered dimensions of conflict in the Mozambique – Tanzania borderlands. Since 2017, ongoing violence from the militant insurgency in northern Mozambique has spilled over into Mtwara region in southern Tanzania, leading to widespread displacement, heightened insecurity, and evolving cross-border dynamics that shape both conflict and peacebuilding efforts.
